Yes it can be done and it is calculated into the design and in-camera processing. I don't know which of the compact system cameras have these systems. There is more room in a dSLR of course. Phase One and Hasselblad and the like don't put these systems in their bodies either. That is apprently the way those designers think too. I guess I clean the cover glass on my M9 maybe a couple of times a year. Takes me maybe 10-15 minutes. I accept that as part of the package for the results quality. Actually on recollection I have not touched mine for 3000 frames or so. There are some spots on the periphery if I stop right down and shoot a plain sky or whatever. I just never see them in normal photography. I recall doing this more often when I had my M8 but I can't identify why that was so. Maybe I looked too often! I did once get a large fibre on a lens change that caused me a lot of angst in developing! I used the OM-D for several hundred frames and a Nikon for several thousand. I never cleaned either and that is certainly very convenient. Then if I look closely at comparable frames.... well that is why I pay so much for Leica and accept the much more basic technology as a vehicle for better lenses. YMSEMV ;-) Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman *(Your Mileage and Spot Experience May Vary )* * *
