I think this is the crux of the issue all along and is understood, Herbert.
In this argument though when we read "Jpeg" we are assuming I think
correctly that its "jpegs right out of the camera". But the fact that ACR*
opens up a jpeg just like it would a NEF or DNG  Raw somehow gets lost in
the shuffle. Perhaps its because most who shoot jpegs don't do this. They go
right out of the camera with their jpegs; No ACR. Its the point of shooting
a jpeg. Hard disk space is cheap and SD or Compact flash cards are dirt
cheap.  But I'd think a few may. They must.
