I think its disdainful to see this thread come up yet one more time on the
LUG. 
Its called high concept photography its been around for years its not rocket
science and the LUG has been taking pot shots at the Jewish lesbian
photographer for years - at odds with the total acclaim she gets everywhere
else in the known civilized planet Earth. She is the master of high concept
magazine portrait photography and her works segues into the gallery scene
seamlessly. There's a number of photographers trying to do what she does and
not really pulling it off. Lots of photographers you get when you cant get
Anne Leibovitz but wish you could.
Somebody just said she was only appreciated by photographers. A real half
assed attempt at marginalizing her work. If you lived on Mars.
Her work is completely valued in galleries, museums by art directors and
collectors. By the general public reading magazines in the dentist office.
 Yet the guys on the LUG have nothing but distain for her work. Big news!
One gal on the LUG.
We're shooting "se?oritas" and wondering why there's only one women on a
list of hundreds to a thousand thoroughly entrenched  in mindlessness guys.

Amazing that to be photographed by Anne Leibovitz defines you as a
celebrity.
That was kind of also said about Avedon but not now to this hard extent.
As to be photographed by her makes you one.
As to be not be photographed by her makes you not one.
Stated I think with a bit of tongue in cheek but still repeatedly stated.
Yet there is some irony in that it has been repeatedly mentioned that for
good reason she is more of a renown person them most of the people she
photographs.  Perhaps until she photographs them.
Not too many people on the LUG doing high concept photography.
Takes some planning. Kyle's work gets there.  I'm not coming up with others
off hand. I've done a few perhaps.

There is no controversy anywhere on planet Earth about the value of Anne
Leibovitz' s work and her validity as a great photographer.
Nowhere except the LUG.
Some people don't like the way she didn't pay her bills on time. Big deal.
Please show us a url of a journalist taking shots at Mz. Leibovitz's work. I
think it will be hard to find one. Her work not her balance sheets.
What do you guys get out of hyping how narrow minded and ignorant  you are?
Does it make you some kind of cool curmudgeon do you think in your own mind?
Photography is not a valid form of doing business now says the system
administrators and finance geeks. Everybody wants to play with cheap cameras
and pontificate on the Leica list about what photography is all about. Shoot
jpegs with UV filters with consumer not even prosumer cameras and take cheap
shots at photographers who actually give a crap and do the work.
