No craft. They are darned close to artless. Both have really bad color books out and I've seen both their large transparencies in person. Does the process make the man or the man make the process? My process I mean the black and white workflo. And by that I mean your black and white prints. In this case darkroom prints. But Weston had a younger son Cole who committed fully to color. And his stuff looked pretty darned good continuing the Weston greatness into color. 8x10 Kodachrome. When it first came out.. http://www.edward-weston.com/cole_weston.htm By the way if you Google contact sheet "B. D. Colen" no black and white shots come up. Not one. What does come up are interestingly off center tiny head shots done of MIT and Harvard professors . I give him credit for shooting for the school papers. I call a person who does that a "photographer". Hitting deadlines. Making viable results. The rhetoric does not help. Especially when it overtly conflicts with the walk. The talk has to match up with the walk. An article on a photographer with non of his work? I'd think the last thing a writer who wants to be a photographer would want. The other issue is "Theme" "The Me". Which is an embarrassing photo blog of which till now I've never heard of. Makes "the online photographer" look good in comparison.
