Subject: [Leica] Interesting technical problem--your thoughts?

I thought as much, but when it happened with three different FILCAs I
tended to look elsewhere.

Looks like a re loadable cassette at the end of its run. Time to replace.
Happened to me a million times. You can try to keep them out of the sun
but you'll get this anyway.
