My guess is that Opton is just a conjured name.  The Op probably
is from Optics and the "on" is a common lens name ending like "ar".
Biogon, Summicron, Topogon, Opton, etc.  It may have had some
other significance such as a code for price or number of elements,
but I don't know enough about the lenses to say.
