Re: your R winder/motor questions... I have the Winder-R which fits R4 and
above. I cannot vouch for the motor drive, but so far as the winder goes:

Excellent. Mine has never given any indication of a problem, from the
sub-arctic in winter to the deserts of Mexico in July.
>o The usefulness of the winder's 2 fps (vs. 4 with the drive)
For fast sports photos you may need the 4 fps of the motor. Otherwise, I
find the 2 fps plenty fast enough to get that second "relaxed" photo where
your subject truly smiles!
>o The additional need for the hand grip that Leica sells
The grip is convenient, and extremely comfortable. It also gives a nice
"balance" to the camera with drive.
>o Overall satisfaction
Rate me as *very* satisfied!
As a side benefit - when you put the motor/winder on - the batteries in the
winder take over power for the entire camera. This way, if your button
batteries fail, and you're in the middle of nowhere, your R6 meter will
still work as AA's are pretty much universally available! (That's a real
plus if you have an R5 or R7 w/electronic shutter!)
