The Meter MR and MR4 are for all purposes identical. The difference is in
the placement of the on switch. Because of the cantilevered rewind knob of
the M4 the on switch was moved to the top of the meter, thus the
nomenclature - MR4. They both have a high and low light setting which is
actuated by turning a small switch from the black dot(high) to the red
dot(low). This moves a light reducing aperature to and from the cell. They
both came in chrome and black, the black being a bit more expensive. Good
examples can be had for around $125.

One peculiar thing to note when buying a MR or MR4, the plastic lens which
covers the needle can sometimes be pushed in causing the needle to become
trapped. This gives the appearance that the meter doesn't work. If you find
one in the hurt box and it's cheap, check to see if this is the problem, if
so offer $5 for it and fix it yourself.

I love my MRs, although they both take a 625 Hg battery, which as we no
kills fish and other innocent creatures in the environment.

Oh, the MC meter. I don't know anything about it except that it has a
honeycomb array type lense over the cell and can be had cheap.
