There are some of the three cammed lenses that will on work on the
SL or the Standard bodies. but, this has nothing to do with the
camming. In fact I have 35mm Summicron that was converted from 2 to 3
cams that will not fit onto my SL. The reason being that the SL has a
removeable plate over (superior to) the lens mount. This plate allows
you to adjust the meter. Some of the lenses have a wide shoulder (for
lack of a better term) that hits this meter adjustment cover. Now if you
really want to be able to use this camera with all of the lenses all one
need do is use a half-round or rat-tale file. File out a half moon in the
bottom center of this plate. I have not done this since I have not been
able to locate a replacement plate.
On the standard bodies the meter rests just above the lens mount.
this will not allow you to mount some the later lenses. In fact Tamron
made an adapter for the SL and a different one for the R camera. If you
look around at the flea markets you can find the OLDER Tamron adapter for
a few bucks.

BTW I am in Philadelphia
