There are two such M42->M39 devices, one made by Novoflex ("LEICO") for US$75, 
and a no-name brand for US$25 [in both cases, a M39->M42 adaptor also 
exists, for the same price....might be efficient for macro 
photography (infinity focus with M lenses on reflex cameras doesn't 
work) ]

Btw, are you *very* sure your telescope is M42, and not T2?
M42, aka Pentax/Practica screw, is M42x1mm pitch
T2 is M42x0.75mm pitch.

T2 is more common on telescopes and macro accessories....

A T2->M39 adaptor is about US$50 in my list.
