 of the lens body and probably one of the most beautifully finished Leitz
lenses. There are several variations and the earliest one (this lens was
 started in 1960) is known to be the prettiest. The performance of the smaller
 newer one is supposed to be a little better than the old one, though their
 lens configuration is 4 groups 5 pieces. But newer one is not as beautiful as
 the old one. Like you stated, the old lens is heavy, so the best way to use
 is to attatch it directly to a tripod.
