Lucien:  The contacts are there to send secret information back to the Leitz 
factory about the users of the new R8.  Once they receive such information, 
Leitz can transmit coded messages to such users in which they get an 
irresistible urge to buy more Leica R lenses.  Why else would such 
contacts be there?
