Tony,

The Passport covers anything that could possibly happen.  Just send
Leica US the broken parts, and they will make it right. The only thing
that P assport doesn't cover is theft or fire.  I heard about someone
that dropped a lens from the edge of the Grand Canyon.  They hiked down,
found the pieces, and sent same to Leica.  It was all replaced. 

They obviously have had people abuse this policy, need I say more?
