(excuse my ignorance ??) Ferdinand, It's normal. When you take the baseplate off of the camera to load or unload it, the frame counter jumps to 40. (You may hear the little "snick" sound as you start to pull off the baseplate.) After loading and advancing a couple of frames, you end up at 1. - - Paul
