 That wouldn't explain why some DR don't align with M4's. I have 3 DR's
and have mixed up the "eyes" so that I don't really know which went 
with what.  According to Roy Moss, who is considered the expert on
DR Summicrons,  the early eyes had the Leitz condenser logo, while
the later ones just said E.Leitz Wetzler & the physical confirmation
was different between the two.  You can check back to an old article
by Roy Moss in the LHSA "Viewfinder" for more specifics.

Actually I have 4 DR Summicrons, but one has no eyes which I never
used anyways and will probably sell at least 2 sets in the next LHSA
catalog.  I have carefully tested these early Rigid Summicrons against
the later 8 element lenses & agree completely with Roy Moss that 
they were better than the later 8 element ones & especially the 
collapsibles, in all repects except for weight - they were heavy.
