I've seen stuff from both lenses (in fact, have owned 90 Summicron Rs for
over 10 years, but don't have one right now). Both are exemplary lenses. If
the 80 (not 85) has vignetting, it's not terribly noticeable. It's
extremely sharp, and some people have characterized it as almost identical
in performance to the 75mm M Summilux. Which some people say they have real
character, whatever that means. I liked what I saw.

But I have to say the 90 Summicron R is an outstanding lens, and flare is
not a problem. I used it wide open with no hesitation at all. It was sharp
at all apertures, right out to the edges. It does get better down to about
2.8 or 4, but even closeup it only needs to be stopped down to 5.6. And by
close, I mean with an Elpro. Even with extension tubes it does very well.
From everything I've heard, the 90 Summicron R is better than the M version.
