I don't think that 3 and 4's go for the same price as SL2's...It's more like
SL2's are twice the price of the R cameras, the SL is about the same price as
the 4, the three generally less. I have had them all and I only miss the
SL2. The 3 felt the largest and most cumbersome, it's meter developed
problems shortly after I bought it.
I had a new 4 and almost new 4SP, they were similar as it was very late 4
that had been a Jessie Owens that was then converted back(interestingly, it
had two sets of serial numbers...) The R4/4SP are much more compact than
either SL2 or 3 and I was pleased with them until the R8 came out. The SL2
had a very solid feel, all of the controls were firm and positive, the
viewfinder was an older match needle style, but seemed very bright and easy
to use. I just saw a very clean one for 850 and a mint 50 yr Jahre for
1800.and a mint set of SL2, with a 50,35 and 135 for 2000.00.... If you are
doing sports and need 1/2000, then you need the SL2(or a R5/6.2).... The
SL2's meter is spot only.
