Subject: A.R.P.S.?

I am an amateur of books about photography written in the period between
the world wars, and particularly for books on tabletop photography -- the
photography of miniatures in simulated scenes from fantasy or life. (Why a
man in his thirties should be interested in books about a silly hobby from
60 or 70 years ago is beyond me. I don't actually do much tabletop
photography, although I have done some; mostly I find the books very
charming, with their muddy pictorialist photos and their earnest advice on
making greeting cards from tabletop photos.)

I've noticed that many of these old books are written by people whose names
are followed by the initials A.R.P.S. For example, the author, or a name
on a picture credit, will be given as Henry G. Russell, A.R.P.S. Does
anyone on the list know what A.R.P.S. stands for?

P.S. If you should happen to have any books on tabletop photography for
sale, I'm always in the market.
