Hi All,

This is my first message to the LUG, having been a LUG lurker for ages.
I am a British photographer based in Shanghai. I have been working in
China for over a decade - as well as covering most of the rest of Asia,
the former Soviet Union and elsewhere. Started out with Reuter when
they acquired UPI photos international. Nowadays I shoot half editorial
and half corporate - one for fun the other to pay the bills.

I was born in Cambridge (UK) and grew up in Somerset. I am now 33 and
married - first child on his/her way due Christmas.

I use Leica Ms (2 M6s, 2 M4s and 2 M3s) and now have lenses 21/2.8,
28/2.8, 35 ASPH, 35/2.0, 50/2.0, 50/1.4, 75/1.4, 135/4.0. Must confess
that EOS gets more use these days but I use the Ms wenever practical.
Also must confess I use the Contax G2 for its automation and better
flash handling.

In the past I have owned most M lenses (including 50/1.2, 21/3.4,
various 28s including 2 minolta 28s,) as well as a bunch of Canon
exotics - 50/0.95, 19/3.5. Can only say that the new stuff is
invariably better than the old stuff as far as picture quality but the
finish and feel of the older equipment has a definite appeal.

Will try to be more active on this list if I can make the time
available!

By the way - I tried half a dozen Rapidwinders in NY this summer
(thanks to Ken Hansen) but all had some problem with my M6s - fine for
half a roll or so and then the gears would slip? Was I the only one to
suffer such? I loved the idea and when they worked I was delighted -
wonder if it was my cameras or just bad luck. Would be willing to give
them another go if I heard more glowing reports from long-term users.
(BTW I am left eyed like Ted). I also have a Winder M sitting in my
cupboard - discontinued and soon to be a collectors item I hope!

Bests,
Adrian
