Jay Coleman,

Sorry for the belated response; however, it's been a very busy week :-) !

                                  >>Is it as good as the 180/3.4 APO?<

I'm in the process of trading in my 180/3.4. My goal is to get to the
following R lens line-up: 1.) 19mm/ 2.8 ( don't own yet ) 2.) 35f2 ( just
bought ) 3.) 80/1.4 ( on order ) 4.) 70-180 APO ( already have ) 5.) 280 f4
( already have ).

I also own the 24/2.8, 90/2.8, & the 180 f3.4. I'm currently trading off
the 180/3.4 & haven't decided whether I should keep the 24mm & the 90mm
lenses. I like the 24mm focal length; however, it's performance is somewhat
less than my other Leica glass; I'd really to see Leica upgrade this
R-focal length.

Finally, In answer to your question, I do think that the 70-180 APO is
superior to the 180/3.4 optic. The 70-180 APO is an incredible piece of
glass ;-)!

Thanks again for the loan of the 80/1.4 lens!
