Kari,

I pull the film in freezer bags out of the equipment bag, hand it to the
security operator and they look at it through the clear plastic and pass it
over to another security person without it going through the scanner. Then
after you have cleared the metal detector you put the freezer bag back into
the equipment bag.

I've even had some of these security types open the clear freezer bag and
run their hands through the film like a kid running their hand through bag
of sand or leggo parts! :)

On occaision I have thrown the film into the little boxes with my out of
pocket money change, hearing aid batteries, pens etc and just picked it up
on the other side of the metal scanner after walking through.

And I've never had anyone refuse this method other than a moron in Montreal
when I handed him two freezer bags of film film and said please do not put
ths through the scanner as it is very valuable film.

I turned awy for a second and the jerk put them both on the belt to go
through and I grabbed them. To say the least there were a few moments of
words exchanged with this mental midget entrusted with my air safety about
his job and mental capacity.

Then I asked for the supervisor and insisted the film not go through as
they could see what the hell it was and I just couldn't take any chances.

And it didn't go through. But that is the only time it ever happened since
I started using freezer bags.
