I recently got a Metz 32 Z-2 for my R8. Metz had an offer on that if you
bought the flash you got an adapter for your camera free!! I got the SCA
3501 free!!! Got it from Tamarkin, I think. Your might call them to see
if the offer is still on. Saved about $ 75 for the adapter.

I don't think your Braun 340 will work through the R8 at all. I had an
adapter from the R7 and was told it would not work on the R8. I think
the reason is that the transfer of information on the R8 is digital and
not on the R7 adapter.

Put the flash on the camera and on A, ie, so that the flash measures the
output - not the camera. Put the camera on 1/250 s and set the aperture
on the camera, and set the camera on "A". The aperture set on the
camera should match aperture and distance range set on the flash. (just
like if using it on an M6)

If you use "P" the camera may set the aperture outside of the range you
have set on the flash.

Get the SCA 3501 adapter (and a new flash that uses it) - not only does
it work extremely well it also allows 1/3 stop overrides.

I paid about $ 165 ?? or thereabouts for both the flash and the adapter.

Hope this helps
