Jeff - Bubbles have no effect, neither in your 2/35 asph Summicron,
nor in other lenses. Leitz has them, Zeiss has them.

Bubbles were well-known in the pre-press-glass area. They result from
the melting process. You will find them rather often in (1) older 
lenses (2) with lots of glass (e.g. old 1.4 Summilux, 1.5 Summarit).

I'd even say: There is no lens w/o bubbles, though most are too
small to be discovered.
