Looking closely at this lens, it *appears* to be a
Tele-Elmarit or some-such, that has been aperture
restricted to f4.  This would imply that Leica produced
this lens from quality-control rejects that were perhaps
not up to scratch at full aperture but OK when stopped
down to f4, and were thus "free" to produce!

Does anybody know if this is true/likely/possible...?
