I have the older 35 summilux.  Wide open it has a softness which is
unmistakable.  Some people appaerntly like it.  Stopped down as little as
1/2 stop, it sharpens up considerably.  At 'normal' shooting apertures, the
lens is a sharp or sharper than any other, IMHO.  If you need the 1.4
opening, it is there.  You are right about those damn filters, though.  A
pain in the butt.
