My source is an ad from Foto Schaja (Munich, Germany) in the "Sonderheft
Leica M6" (inside front cover). While not straight from the horse's mouth
I've no reason to question their statement. The text can't be interpreted
as a misprint IMHO.

According to the ad from Foto Schaja: "... als wir von Seiten der Contax zu
hoeren bekamen, daB die Serie auslaeuft. Bedauerlicherweise." and "Den
Fertigungsstop bei Carl Zeiss koennen wir uns nur so erklaeren ..." and
"Also es bleibt dabei: einzigartige Optik, bald schon wieder nicht mehr zu
haben, Eile tut Not."

The keyword here is "Fertigungsstop", to me that means end of production.
You could try Foto Schaja for more information: schaja@compumedia.de or
perhaps one of our German subscribers knows more?
