Subject: Re: [Leica] New M6 Details

I was surfing on Camerquest the other night ( and what a great site it is)
and saw the page on variations between newer and older M6's. Since I
recently bought a new M6, ser#2425xxx, I checked the film loading guide
behind the bottom plate and couldn't believe it is painted on!?!? Whereas
on my M6/T it is engraved and paint filled. I understand this is a minor
point and most likely will not affect the pictures (that what they say when
you find a hair ball between the elements), I am suspicious as to what other
"minor" changes Leica Camera has made, especially the ones we cannot see.
In this day and age, all manufacturers need to cut costs but the M6 already
cost a bundle! In a recent issue of POP Photo, Herb Keppler took apart two
Pentax K1000's - original and current versions, to see what changes Pentax
made to cut costs. Hmmmm. That would really be interesting. . ..
