There is a significant difference in optical performance between the C
and the R
[snip]
So if your normal shooting practice concentrates on handheld shots at
a distance from let us say 1 meter to 2,5 meters, you use 400 ISO B&W
film or the older generation transparancies from 200 ISO, and your
enlargemet requirements are modest, the C will suit you very well and
the differences with the other types are maybe not so significant.<<

If you ever get the chance to test a 50/2 Summitar, it would be
interesting to compare the results to the collapsible 50/2 Summicron.
Particularly if the shooting parameters (as you outline above) are the
photographers standard i.e., coarser grain films, B&W ISO 400, ISO 200
chrome, etc. Perhaps some of us are wasting money in search of
Summicrons when a Summitar for half price (or even less) would provide
equal performance based on other self imposed limitations (parameters
as defined above).
