In fact, half way through M4-2 production Leitz eliminated a crucial condenser lens from the finder unit, which gave a very contrasty rangefinder patch and frameline view from various angles, without requiring you to carefully centre your eye. This is an unbelievable weakening of the rangefinder unit. There are many other examples of this change in philosophy but this - in my opinion - is the most critical. You can believe what you like. The truth is not arguable - IT SIMPLY IS.
