The main thing is the camera is a bit taller, and gives your fingers (well,
mine at least) a better grip. I sure wish they had the strap on the left to
wrap around the hand like the Motor/Winder R on earlier cameras. It's much
more secure. But the fact that nothing really changes except the weight and
height of the camera is nice.

It's a heck of a lot smaller than the F5 with the winder attached, so the
R8 now seems quite compact to me. In some ways smaller than the older R4-7
cameras. At least less bulky. But if you don't like the shape of the R8, I
don't think this will help. But I find the F5 just way too big when you're
shooting with a small lens. The R8 is not a good choice for me. But I sure
miss my M6 for carrying a camera when I'm not working.
