Extreme is not a strong enough descriptive for its sharpness and microcontrast. I do plenty of people shooting (erotic, glamour, fashion, portraits) and the 100 APO is definitely not my MAIN lens for this work, but it does not stay on the shelf, and does its share of work. I do not find the extreme sharpness to be a detriment in portraiture at all. I prefer "reality portraits" to the overused "soft focus" look.
