Subject: [Leica] FILTERS, HELIOPAN, B&W, MC, COATED

I have the opportunity to use Heliopan, B&W filters, on Leica and non-Leica
 lens.
I would say they are of same quality. One thing good about Heliopan filter
is the
filter ring is made of brass, yes solid brass which make it heavier than
B&W filters.
Heliopan claim that they only use Schott glass for their filter.

I put a multi-coated and coated filter (both B&W) , side by side on a piece
 of paper
which is with some printing on it. I can see some reflection of lighting on
 the
ceiling on the coated version, but I could hardly see any reflection on MC
version.
So you know what is my choice.
But I never bother to test these 2 filters to see the differences on
picture taking.

The bad thing about those odd sizes filters, like size 30.5, 48, bayonet
1,2,3,4, etc,
though Heliopan are willing to produce, but only in coated version.

I understand that the B&W or Heliopan filters are expensive in US, the
price
are even higher for the MC version. I am lucky that in Singapore, the agent
 for Heliopan
is willing to import in volume and sell at low margin. If I am not wrong,
the MC price in
Singapore is lower than some of the coated version in US.
