Hi Nathan,

I use the Pradovit 600 and own both CF (Zeiss-Ikon 90mm f2.8 CF) and
regular (Zeiss T* Sonnar 90mm f2.5) lenses. Sorry to disappoint you, but
the soft corner syndrome is not eradicated by Leica projectors. It seems
the CF lenses (including the Colorplan CF) are calculated for the curvature
induced by cardboard mounts. They don't do much good (if any) with plastic
mounts. Furthermore, and despite what has been written in some magazines,
the Pradovits are not immune to the dreaded "pop" effect due to the heat,
though slides projected through the Pradovit 600 seem to "pop" less
frequently and after a longer time in front the lamp.

So, like or not (and I HATE it), the only way to be sure you are going to
get even sharpness on your projected slides is to use anti-Newton glass
frames....

Subject: [Leica] Pradovit and Colorplan lenses

Hi all,

I have decided to replace my Kodak 4600 projector--I am tired of seeing
soft corners on slides that are perfect on the light table. Given my
recent affliction with the Leica bug, the obvious choice is one of the
Pradovit models. I have also decided to get the 90mm Colorplan lens to
go with it. My question is: which one? I see that there are two
Colorplan lenses, one FF (flat field) and one CF (curved field), and
also a Super Colorplan CF lens. For projecting plastic-mounted slides at
home, what should I get--curved field or flat field?

Also, what is the difference between the Colorplan P-2 and the Super
Colorplan P-2 (other than price)?

Many thanks for your replies.

Nathan
