Hello,

My two point and shoot candidates:

1) Olympus Stylus Epic -- Fast, very sharp 2.8 fixed lense; tiny size;
fairly quiet; ability to turn off flash; $99 price most everywhere(down
from @$150 when new last year).

2) Konica Hexar -- Very fast, tack sharp 2.0 lense (35 mm); many
exposure options including special Program, Aperature Priority and
Manual functions; high build quality/ feel; Extremely quiet; Price
dropping to @$500 (Note: On big size for a P & S --about size of Leica M
with collapsible lense).
