G'day Marc,

Like you, I have no interest in this LUG web picture page and deleted every
title pertaining to it without reading them. So, I have no idea what
created Alf's departure, whom without question, is one of the solid, common
sense contributors to the LUG. We don't want him to leave - his wisdom is
required reading for all members.

This man is a wealth of Leica information and to lose him due to threats of
"blackmail" is abominable! I realize there isn't any control over who says
what or threatens another in this totally uncontrolled medium of
communication, but something must be done to clean up this "blackmail
threat" immediately.

The LUG cannot, and all its members cannot, tolerate the threats to Alf.
Certainly those who created the departure of this man. More importantly,
free speech or not, the perpetrator of the threats is the one that should
be leaving or apologizing.

My feelings of the LUG have always been that we, the whole family, are a
civilized group of human beings communicating with one another about
something we're jointly interested in. Yes, on occasion we have snarky
discourse amongst the group, but to have a situation arise where one member
is threatening "blackmail" cannot be tolerated.

It isn't acceptable in a civilized world and most certainly - not in my
book. There's a big difference to stand by someone in the sense of right to
"free speech" but it's a major difference when it comes to threatening
another person.

<<<<<I gather someone got sued by somebody else over something, but haven't
the foggiest idea of what occurred. I also gather that someone threatened
to blackmail Alf over something, but, again, it is almost most vague and
puzzling>>>>>

Either this ends immediately, or I imagine a number of folks will just pull
out and the LUG will basically fall apart - Who the hell wants to belong to
something where you might find a ticking box waiting on the other side of
your screen. Not me for sure!!!!!

Let's trust that decent common sense comes to set this straight - QUICKLY -
and that Alf is back on screen where he rightfully belongs. And damnit,
knock off any future threats!

Quite frankly there isn't room in this group for that petty level of mental
contribution.

<<<<<Alf, your contributions to the LUG over the past year or more have
been great. Pray, sign up again. I have no idea who threatened you, or with
what, but I would strongly suggest you ignore it.>>>>>

Let me second Marc's request. Alf, you have far more friends on the LUG
than you imagine. Try to take the attitude of ..."Stick it in your ear!" to
the threatening party and please, stay on screen.

<<<<<How is the discussion of some lawsuit germane to the LUG, in any
event?>>>>>

It doesn't have a place in any conversations about Leica!

I hope you will be back on, Alf....
