I believe that currently you can get a new non-ASPH for a good deal less
than the ASPH.  Two very well known dealers both recommended the
non-ASPH over the ASPH unless maximum aperture performance was
paramount.

As for the LHSA comparison, these tests were conducted in b/w which is
fine but doesn't mean much to those of us who are interested in chrome.
