Jim,

Sorry, I was distracted by the phone.

I bought the 90/2.8 tele-Elmarit last year
and found out that it did indeed have a "problem."  I was told by a Leica 
technician that it was fungus on the lens.  Fortuneately I had a year to 
return it from a reliable dealer.  He gave me full credit towards the 90 
f/2 mint which I not own.  It's a little heavier, but it's clean and the 
extra f-stop comes in handy for the work I do.

Make sure you have the option to return the lens if it is not 
satisfactory.
