[cut] I suppose to a large extent it depends on what kind of photography you do, how the resulting pictures are to be displayed, and how critical you want to get about technique. Admittedly, techno-stuff for its own sake is retentive. However, for anyone using SLRs and long telephoto lenses with slow shutter speeds, for doing _practical_ lens testing, or for just about any kind of macro work, minimizing camera vibration is critical in those applications, and in others as well. There just happens to be a need, for some at least, to ensure that those legendary Leica optics are allowed to deliver what they are capable of optically, without being restrained by other factors which are able to be controlled. - -GH
