Dear Pascal,

It is obvious that such detail would be noticed

Suppose you are scanning for web publishing purposes, and you limit your
resolution at 72 or 150 dpi. Two questions:
- - Would this limitation in resolution have an effect on dynamic range, =
or
is dynamic range independent on the resolution setting?
- - Would the difference in dynamic range between the two scanners be
noticeable at that kind of low resolution, and if no, from what level of
resolution would you see the difference?

My experience is: the importance of dynamic range is independent on the=20
resolution of an image. What every image needs to look good is dynamic=20
range, color fidelity, a low noise level and it should be free of other=20
artefacts. Resolution is needed for output size "only". A good scanner =
is=20
free of artefacts (as blooming or interpolation effect), has an =
excellent=20
color fidelity and a very high dynamic. The critical issue is allways dy =
=20
namic range. A slide has a density up to 3.4 D. This means: to recognise =

all the fine structures and details in the shadow areas - and to have =
even=20
there a good color separation - you need as much dynamic range as =
possible.=20
The LS-2000 is much better than the 20. And whenever you need even more=20
dynamic range and a perfect color separation, nearly free of noise, have =
a=20
look at the new LEICA S 1 Pro. It is a scanner camera with the highest=20
dynamic range, best signal to noise ratio and color fiedelity.=20
Unfortunately it is not only a slide scanner. You can use it as a=20
reproduktion camera, as a stillife-studio camera (competitive to large=20
format), a documentation tool and a slide scanner.

Who else than Leica could make a camera like the S 1 ?
With that unique design and above all: that performance!
Dicomed? PaseOne? Nobody but Leica !
There are new babies @ photokina. We don=B4t talk about it, we do it.
