I too use a cold light.  I don't like tmax 400, even with xtol....but I
think tmz is wonderful.  I use Kodak specs and think the keys are agitation
and make sure you have enough UNDILUTED developer for each roll of film. 
I use 400ml (200 water/200xtol) when I do one roll at a time.
