I think that B&W gives street shots a kind
of "abstraction" or "distance" that lets them
tell us more of story, while not getting hung
up on irrevelent stuff.  

But - I have a friend who has done some pretty
cool street photos in color.  (With Hassies
and Leica's and a tripod, by the way.)
