Gee, Mike,
I don't know. My late model 50mm Summicron is the most flare resistant lens
I have ever used. I assume yours is clean adn in good condition. Sounds as
if something is amiss, or possibly that you are expecting more from the lens
than it can give. Perhaps others have had your problem
