I am sure glad to know this. Damn if I want to do business with someone that
doesn't know whether something is ethical or not.  It appears to me that
collecting the customers money is first and ethics are second with Mr. Posner.
Making this statement also makes me question his sanity.

If one does business with someone that has published a questionable position
on ethics they definitely are at risk.  Collecting and using a customers money
before they deliver the goods, except if they have explicit permission, is
unethical.  The more that they do this the less that they have to rely on
other sources for cash flow for which they must pay interest.

I sure don't want to have to worry about this and the only way to prevent this
is not to patronize someone that their ethics are suspect.  

Ernie, just think about all of the time that you have spent on this.  It has
been a source of irritation, and rightfully so, for days.  How much did you
save if you placed a value on your time and aggravation?  Not much I'm sure.
I am glad that you cancelled the order and you found out who you are dealing
with.

 "It has been our standard practice for several years to charge the whole
 order when it's placed. In the vast majority of cases (well past 95%) orders
 leave here complete and this procedure allows us to get them out the door
 and to our customers 24-36 hours faster.
 
 I cannot say whether or not it's ethical, but rest assured it is most
 certainly legal. We would not tempt fate by attempting any proacticew which
 would jeopardize our ability to conduct business or to accept a customer's
 credit card."
 
 I certainly have no problems determining what I think is ethical even if Mr.
 Posner is crippled in this regards.  I called them today and cancelled the
 remainder of the order.
 
 I don't want this to become a thread - I've seen Posner and B/H bashed on
 the news groups and it generally solves nothing.  I believe Band H is an
 example of you get what you pay for and they are at least honest about their
 business ethics ( or lack thereof).
 
 Anyway now that I'm on the trail of a reliable mail order film vendor other
 than B  and H  any suggestions from the LUG?
