The newer German version is optically the same as the older Canadian model.
but they have changed the mechanics somewhat, managing to reduce the weight
by 4 ounces (roughly).  

It will be interesting to see if Leica reformulates this lens.  The 75 is a
perfect example of where pure lens resolution is only part of the story.
It may or may not be a super sharp, high resolution lens, but the image
quality is unique, and I fear that a modern formulation may destroy it.
