Dick,

Thanks for pointing me to Schneider's web site
http://www.schneideroptics.com/quality/quality.htm .
The paper does indeed have a nice explanation of MTF curves. However,
one question still remains
unanswered. How come some graphs start above 100%? For example, the MTF
curve for Provia
shows numbers above 100% for all image frequencies less than 10. This
does not make sense to me.
How can a lens transmit MORE information than is in the actual image?
