I remember discussing buying 50mm Summicron Ms with Nathan Benn, National Geographic photographer one time. He preferred, so he says, the older lenses vintage early 60s, because of a certain quality. But still, he had to buy four of them, and return the first three before he got the performance he wanted. So this is NOT a new phenomenon with Leica lenses. (Variation between samples). No? So what some people remember about quality is also subjective, or based on luck. Or so it would seem.
