Do you know why the 'silver chrome finish' versions of M lenses are
heavier as the 'black anodizied finish'. If the metallic structure is
not the same (aluminium vs bronze or steel ?), do you think that the
durability or reliability can be better in the silver chrome finish
case.

"Silver," or chrome, lenses made of brass  with a chrome finish. Black =
lenses are made of aluminum and black anodized. Brass is heavier, so =
"chrome" lenses are heavier. I have no idea if reliability studies have =
been done, but since most of use don't use our lenses like Tina, I doubt =
if there is much difference in practical terms. I certainly prefer light =
to heavy when it comes to photo gear.
