My apologies if any offense taken.....I was tagging along on the 
thread and was ranting in general, not at you.   
BTW, you made the right choice, leaving the lens alone....I don't 
like the idea of working on ANYTHING that's basically right, and 
am doubtful about the quality of today's repair depts.  I know it's 
frustrating, but ALL your lenses will have specks in them in 
a year, if you use/ carry them, so shoot on........I know Ted and 
I both like to stand up and rant, so please don't be offended -- 
we're in it FOR you!!!
