[cut]BTW, you made the right choice, leaving the lens alone....I don't=20
like the idea of working on ANYTHING that's basically right, and=20
am doubtful about the quality of today's repair depts. I know it's=20
frustrating, but ALL your lenses will have specks in them in=20
a year, if you use/ carry them, so shoot on........I know Ted and=20
I both like to stand up and rant, so please don't be offended --=20
we're in it FOR you!!!
Thanks, Walt

I certainly underscore your advice to leave well enough alone. If the =
factory couldn't get a clean assembly, do you think an individual tech =
or a service locaton can do better? Or, if lenses get dirty with use, it =
will soon have another speck of dust in a few months, anyway. I think =
the latter is true.=20
Perhaps we would all be happier if we started questioning our kit when =
changes in the images suggeted a problem. Has anyone done practical =
tests on how much dirt or dust it takes to produce a noticable change in =
actual pictures?=20
Sinerely,
Joe Stephenson
