Personally, I think the Summarit is a tad sharper, and at f1.5, a bit faster, but for a compromise, the Summitar is a decent lens. I tried a few shots wide open, with available light, and the results were pleasing, at least to me. If you get a chance to try it before buying it, run a roll through the camera, shooting at all apertures, and see if you like the results. Also, being collapsible, it makes for a very compact camera- I could put my IIIf with Summitar in my pants pocket without any trouble, and it was my 'tote camera' most of the time+ACE- Enjoy+ACE- Dan dwpost+AEA-msn.com
